| An
evaluation of a students strengths and weaknesses prior to tutoring is
most important, because it gives the tutor/teacher a picture of where
the student stands among his or her classmates at the present time, in
reference to a specific skill or skills or an academic subject. The evaluation/assessment
pinpoints the academic skill or skills that the student needs tutoring.
In
order for a student to overcome a stumbling block or weak academic area
related to being successful in school, the assessment is the key to unlocking
the door to the student having success in the tutoring program. Tutoring
without an assessment is like driving a car at night with your light off.
You can't see where you are going!
Dr.
Larman's Assessment is approved by the State Department of Education and
the local school systems. Dr. Larman is an expert in many fields including
assessments and diagnostic testing. At the College level and University
level, Dr. Larman has taught assessment courses and classes to thousands
of tutors and teachers. Tutors and teachers learn how to how to understand
the results of the assessment, in order to implement the Smart Student
Tutoring Program/Plan that has been developed from the Evaluation/Assessment.
Simply stated, You need an Evaluation/Assessment prior to tutoring in
order to tutor a student successfully!
The
Evaluation/Assessment is the foundation of the the tutoring program for
any student. If you don't have an assessment prior to tutoring a student,
many hours of useless tutoring may take the place of Smart Tutoring that
results in a successful and confident student that has overcome his or
her stumbling block in the education process. Remember, to turn your lights
on when driving at night and always remember to have an assessment prior
to tutoring, for any grade: K to 12 and at the college level. |
